93 F250 351w E4OD swapping in 460 ZF5 build thread

Hey guys, ive been wanting a 460 and 5 speed in my truck and my 351w broke a piston so I figured what the hell might as well do it. My truck is very clean considering where its from and all so its worth putting alot of time and money into it(and ALOT of sentimental value). Still cant find leaf springs for my dana 60 swap, i bought everything new to rebuild the whole front end but new springs are too much money. Heres some pics of my truck right now and the donor truck I bought yesterday..

Replacing the radiator support

The 460 runs very good and smooth, though im goona replace most wear parts anyway. The tranny has a new clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing, seems to shift good(never drove an old standard truck)

I will be putting headers, full exhaust and stock intake back on

Ill have alot of pics, photobucket is takin along time

Rich

Right on man, while your cleaning it up, bows the best time to visually inspect your wiring, and fix accordingly, best of luck!

Hey guys, so last night i took the engine tranny and case out. Today i took the clutch pedal assy out, the slave cylinder(where you put fluid in), rear drive shaft(longer), throttle cable and frame engine mounts out. Still need to take out the fuel rail, gas tank and pump(new), and any wiring that i might need then i can scrap the truck.

Do I need the fuel pump from the 460?

Can i just unhook the fuel rail from the fuel filter and use just that front section?

Still wondering what wiring harness I can use?? The fuse box harness looks the same but is it?

While taking the manifolds off there were 3 bolts already broken off flush and I broke 1. The bolt hole all the way in the rear on the drivers side is cracked off and the head is cracked inside the port.

On the same side there was oil built up in the little valley so I took the plug out and there was no oil on it? I cleaned it after and looked for a crack and didnt see one.

I obviously need a different head

Heres the pics, I could really use some advice, thanks, Rich

Was just looking at the pics, I think the oils from the dip stick leaking

From what I gather from the internet, no. , I say you redo the harness in red loom anyway, and your power distribution box if your old one looks better, I say gut the good box, and put it on the 460 harness

Been getting alot done. Ordered headers last night, got a new(used) head and dropped them off to the machine shop. Most of the time its been cleaning and painting taking up alot of time but its well worth it. Put a new brake line in from the abs(i think) module to about the start of the box, making all my brake lines new on the whole truck. Painted the valve covers, motor mounts, bought an engine gasket set, got the 460 engine mounts painted and bolted into place. Resealed transfer case, installed clutch pedal assy, slave cylinder, removed all auto trans shifting stuff from the steering column. New fuel filter and 460 fuel rail cleaned up ready to go.

Still have to drop fuel tank from the parts truck cause its new and then its ready to scrap

Anyone have suggestions on a good exhaust system that i could throw behind the hedman hedders i bought? I want it going from the single to a y pipe with 2 glasspacks coming out behind the rear tires

I have the front springs and rsk for my dana 60 swap, very tempting to install!!! Dont wana do it untill i know i can drive the truck to the alignment shop.

Thats all I can think of right now, ill post pics tomorrow

I hooked up the 460 computer to my 351w harness and it turns the fuel pump on so i think im goona get the engine and tranny in, hook it all up and see if it will run with the 351w main harness

Headers came in today, bolts werent in the box so i called summit and he said he will ship them tomorrow.

Cleaned and painted some more frame and the tranny crossmember, cleaned up the drivers side wheel well

Gota upload some pics onto photobucket which takes forever....
