A/C Compressor Whine

My 2007 Expedition's A/C blows out cool air just fine. My concern is with the whining noise that emits from the a/c compressor. At idle it sounds okay. As soon as rpm's start to rise, the whining starts. Rpm's lower and there is no noise.Does this mean my a/c is about to go out? Thank you in advance.

My 04 Expedition is getting diagnosed for this same noise right now. I'm not looking forward to the quote.

Let me know what they come up with. I'm curious as to what the fix/solution might be. I really notice my noise while doing 65mph and passing a car.

This video is exactly what mine sounds like. Dealership is saying at least a new compressor. They are still diagnosing.

whining noise

I had a whining noise in my 08 Expy that increased with RPM's. Took it to the dealer, who checked it out and said it might be a transmission pump! However, when they actually checked (instead of guessing) they found the idler pully was the culprit. They replaced the part and now it is as quiet as it was when new.
good luck

I will have to check mine out. Would be nice if that fixes my issue. Thanks.

Just unplug it to see if the noise abates. If noise changes you probably need clutch assy. Save yourself a lot of money diys.
