Looking to buy a 76 Need help!
Hello this truck is actually a 76 not a 75, The seller sais his bottom price is 2,000$ and wont take any less. Truck needs new doors, a box, new headers, engine skips a little could possible be spark plugs and wires, New tires(idiot drove it home on a flat and now all thats left is a rim, Lights need to be worked on.. .it looked like wiring issues. It has a 360 big block, 4 speed granny, 1 speed transfer case, d44 front, 9inch rear. Im looking for a 70-79 f150-250 for stock class pulling truck and will be driven occasionally on the road in the summer times. Cab and frame seems pretty rust free, if i bought a truck it whould be ground up restoration. Do you guys think this truck is worth 2 grand? Not many 70-79`s in NY, especially not ones with cab and frame pretty much rust free with a big block in it. I told him lowest i whould pay is about 1200$ max, he was offended and told me to lose his number. I know this truck isnt worth a grand, but should I buy it anyways? Yes its ganna cost me alot more... but i dont have the funds to go to outher states truck picking.

NO, it's not worth anywhere near $2,000 period!
I would offer $300 tops. If he expects to get anything near 2K he' an idiot.
How do you know the frame and cab are "basically rust free"? His word?
One man's rust free is often another's swiss cheese.
Do YOURSELF a favor, take his advice....lose his number.

NO WAY that truck is worth anywhere near 2 grand! Plus look at the front bumper on the passengers side, it looks like he hit something. Which means the grill shell probably needs tt be replaced because the bumper shoved into it. Notice he didn't show any pics of the passengers side fender? Which probably needs to be replaced because once again the bumper shoved into it. Then it has no bed, if it's that hard to find a 70's model truck where you live, it's gonna be even harder trying to find a bed. I think you don't need to rush into it. Take you're time and find the right one.

Not to be a smart a$$ but if you don't have the funds to go truck shopping in another state, you don't have the funds to bring this one up to snuff.
I went looking for a rust free truck as a donor for my project. I found one in New Mexico. Bought it for $2,000 and spent another $1,200 to have it shipped from NM to central Florida where I live.
You're going to have a whole lot more than that $1200.00 in just the bed, tires. Plus that "skip" in the engine could also be cylinder or valve problems.
This is the one I bought for 2K.

Just for comparison purposes, since my buy is similar to yours in a sense. I paid $2000 for my truck. It had new fenders and doors and all the cab had been painted. It had the engine and transmission rebuilt and had about 8k miles on the rebuild. It had a new seat, headliner, and a perfect dash. Basically it had the whole exterior of the cab 100% straight with brand new paint and really good looking paint at that.

Glad you decided not to be one and pay 2 grand for a $3-500 truck just because its close geographically. I spent the $700 on shipping to get a New Mexico truck I found on Ebay. That $700 probably saved me thousands in bodywork and or sheet metal had I bought something close by. The condition of western trucks is amazing compared to eastern ones. The frame is in better condition on this 36 yr old truck than many I have seen that are 4-5 yrs old back east, all due to the climate.

By spending $3,200 total to get a rust free example I saved thousands in body work alone (my truck was really rusted out).
