Speific Steering Boxes For Crossover
Truck: 76 F250 w/ 8" Superduty springs, high steer and crossover.
Problem: No steering box.
Is there a newer steering box that fits the application, something in the later 90's or 2000's. My local auto wreckers are extremely limited. I have done many searches and no one ever seems to mention the speific year of vehicle they got their box off of. Seems 2 or 4 wheel drive dodges are an option or 2 wheel chebbys, but what year or does it matter.
Having a truck for two years and never driven it is rough, one steering box and Im behind the wheel.

As far as I understand off reading a few threads on here, your truck either have or had the older style Ford 1st gen style power steering.
Prone to alot of leaking and other reliability issues and I have read that alot of owners look for a 78/79 4wd p/s box to take care of this problem.
Have never seen where a 90's or newer swap have been done.....
I believe its a pretty straight forward swap, if you can locate a good 78/79 box, but here is a link to a company with a great FTE reputation and might be the best route to go?

The saginaw boxes many use are 2wd dodge or chevy trucks. They mount outboard of the frame & the pitman swings the correct way (the 4wd boxes swing the opposite way). The dodge & chevy boxes are the same except the ratio. It's been a LONG time since I read up on it but I seem to remember the dodge boxes being 15:1 and Chevy being 12:1
The box I used on my truck came from the '91 dodge truck that was my original cummins donor.
Here's a few pics of what the box looks like. I'm pretty sure these were the same boxes on chevy trucks from the 70's or earlier into the 90's. Not sure on dodges, but may be the same.

1973/76 & 1977 F250 4WD's before serial number Y20,001 (all High Boys) were available with optional Power Assist P/S. The manual steering gearbox was used, because it had nothing to do with Power Assist.
Two P/S hoses, pressure and return, route from the pump to the P/S control valve. Two short P/S hoses, pressure and return, route from the control valve to the P/S hydraulic cylinder.
1973, 1974 F250 4WD's before serial number T80,001 used Garrison Power Assist P/S. 1974's from serial number T80,001, 1975/76 and 1977 F250 4WD's before serial number Y20,001 used Bendix Power Assist P/S.
All the parts are obsolete except for the bushing kit that mounts the cylinder to the frame rail (same Garrison/Bendix). Garrison parts are much more plentiful NOS.
Bendix parts can be difficult to find NOS, especially the seal kits for the control valve and cylinder. Both are almost non existant.
1977 F250's from serial number Y20,001 are not High Boys, used the same Ford integral P/S as 1978/79 F250 4WD's, 1979 F350 4WD's.
Ford never referred to their integral P/S as Saginaw for a very good reason. Saginaw is a division of General Motors.
