Ckicking sound in cab

I just replaced both my batteries on my 2001 F250 7.3 and then my alternator and now I am experiencing a fast clicking sound when I turn the key and the truck just turns over and doesn't start. This clicking doesn't always happen but if it does, I just turn the key to the off position and then restart - it doesn't do it and the truck starts.

Try to give us at least a teensy bit more to go on in regards to the location of your clicker gremlin so that we can eliminate posibilities.

Pull the cover off under the steering wheel and see if the clicking is coming from the fuse box... or maybe the vertically mounted rectangular box doo dad there on the inside tucked up under by the parking brake ...

Maybe you just got a bad relay..
I hope thats all.

Others will be piping in soon i'd suspect.

I will listen better tomorrow but it sounds like it is coming from behind the dash in the area of the speedometer.

There are some relays just behind the radio against the firewall. Is there any chance it's in that area? Those relays are for power door locks/power windows I believe.

Relays will often chatter with low voltage while cranking, but I believe you said the engine cranks fine but won't start, and then if you switch the ignition off and try again it will. Sounds like a bad ignition switch. Without more information (such as voltage readings) my guess is that the switch contacts that supply IGN power in the start position are intermittent.

Clean the battery posts, and both ends of each cable. I think you have a bad connection giving you low voltage.
