As many of you know, my father was involved in a motorcycle accident and has been in a coma since Aug 2ND.
Currently his status requires a nurse but not a hospital, so they want to move him to a nursing home. The 2 facilities that the family has experience with will not work. 1 has closed, and the other is for Alzheimers.
So I'm wondering if any of you have opinions, pro or con, of nursing homes in Hartford or Tolland county.
Can't help you with a recommendation Dano. Have you talked with the folks at the hospital about their experiences? They know your Dads particular needs and should have some insight. There are websites that you can check out nursing home ratings.

The hospital has been helpful and supplied a list, now I need to pick from that. I did find a good website that is very helpful also. I was just checking every outlet available for recommendations or horror stories.
I only have experience with nursing homes in Middlesex county. I did have a patient once at Mountian Laurel Emeritus I think was the name(on Hebron Ave.) They seemed like a good place, well organized, friendly staff. Good luck Dano

Ok Avery is on the list, I already had it but I'm glad to hear Justina recommendation. The one on Hebron ave had possibly been renamed Glastonbury care center, and also on my list.
Kyle, that seems to be everyones review of apple. How do they stay open?
Thanks everyone, its all very helpful. Keep them coming, I haven't picked one yet
I am not sure Dano. Seems to me they buy out small family owned operations, and then turn them into a **** show. My grandfather is at an apple rehab, we are not pleased at all with his care.
Just got through visiting him. First time in a month that we talked.we had about an hour of conversing. We didn't solve any world problems, and he is a long way from perfect, but hetold me what hurt and who visited. He said that he heard everything we were saying while he was in the coma. It was such an awesome evening!
