When I was cleaning the throttle body....i saw the sunlight shining through the master cylinder reservoir and saw it was low. That's when I saw the brake booster condition!
Now I dropped the brake pedal rod bushing and lost it!! I see LMC and Bronco Graveyard have them. But DANG!!! $8-9 to ship a $5.00 part!!!
I'll see if the Ford dealer has one tomorrow!

It had rotted through the metal of the brake booster where the brake fluid had been seeping out (between the master cylinder and booster).

Just a heads up; the last time I ordered from Bronco Graveyard the online invoice shipping was astronomical, but when I received the part and looked over the invoice that came in the package, the shipping was reduced to a very acceptable amount. Wasn't expecting that, although I am glad it happened that way!
Might be worth a phone call to ask someone about the shipping prior to ordering. I don't even look at the shipping charges from Bronco Graveyard anymore. Figure they'll do me right on shipping just to maintain a loyal customer base. I guess the quoted shipping at checkout amounts to the maximum it could possibly be.

I got my new plastic (MTS) fuel tank installed. It's a 33 gallon tank and seems to be a nice enough piece. The factory skid plate was sandblasted, drilled full of proper drain holes, painted and reinstalled. All stainless fasteners, 5 gallons of fresh 91 octane and fired up the 78 Bronco for the first time in probably two months!

I ordered the rear shackle flip kit for the Bronco from Ruffstuff. They are having a 20% off sale so I finlly pulled the trigger and ordered it. I know it will be 6-8 months until I am recovered enough to be able to install it but at least it will be in the garage waiting for me. Who knows, it may help speed my recovery.

Didn't work on the Bronco itself, but I did get word from the machine shop that the machine work is all done on the new 460. Also got a bit of a surprise in the process.
The machinist was going to check how far in the hole the pistons sat so he could zero deck the block. We needed to do that because the 12 cc dished pistons were actually 18cc. That dropped the compression ratio enough to matter.
When he checked it, he discovered the pistons actually protrude from the cylinders by .003". Without the extra machine work this motor will be 10.7....perfect!
Can't wait to put this baby together!
