Back in the day, Goodyear made a tire called "terra tire" If I remember correct it could only be had in a size about 32" tall but was around 14" tread width. It had a v tread that was about 1.5" deep and was a flotation tire. It was an awesome pulling tire but very soft compound. A friend of mine had a set on a 72 Bronco and it was almost unstoppable sand or mud. Didnt last too long with highway driving though.

 

Didn't have alot of $ to spend this weekend so I installed some new plugs and worked on the windsheild washer. Stole the squirters from a '00 taurus, windshield resivior is from '94 F150. Now to figure out why I have no power from the switch. Started to bolt on a reciever hitch on the rear and installed new liscence plates.

 

Replaced the radius arm bushings, what a Pain in the *** but I got it......

 

Looks easier then last set I changed. This was on my '91 Explorer.

fill that wore thru spot with jbweld then sell it on craigslist!

 

I did it the harder way, I actually cut and welded in metal from a donor. It gave me a good excuse to play with my TIG setup, threaded part was welded with MIG (Gas/wire). I sold it later for $800 and it's still on the road!

 

I took my 'old" new headers to a sandblaster saturday and got them blasted. Painted them with some of the VHT flameproof header paint that is supposed to be good to 2000 degrees. Installed them Sunday. Doesnt seem to be as much room in the Bronco as there was in the 79 F-150 I last installed a pair on. Managed to get the drivers side manifold off with a minumim of pain in the ***. Only broke 1 bolt. Thank god for the bolt extractor,stud extractor set. Best $35 I have ever spent. Highly recommended to anyone with an old vehicle to work on. Now I just have to find someone to run exhaust to quiet her down some. My neighbors will appreciate that. I will try to take some pics later.

My '78 bronco, (Bubba) is running good now, only issue I'm having is rusty fuel lines, changing filter every day is getting old quick! Anyone know were to find some stainless lines? JBG has steel set for $99, may have to order them.

 

By the way Greg. Nice repair on the radius arm and brackets.I saw some stainless gas lines somewhere on-line. I will try to re-find them and drop you a link.

 

Chased another gremlin out of Bubba tonight. Rear window went down, really slow, then wouldn't go back up. I had it working perfect once upon a time. Got the test light out and started poking, no power behind the tail light so went under and had power were it crosses the frame. Uwrapped the wiring and found a bunch of green powder that used to be the wire, cut about an inch and a half out and crimped it back together for now. Window still not moving! Checked after the plug behind tail light and had power, but an inch away from the plug the insulation looked swollen. When I cut into it there was more green powder! stripped it back some and found clean copper so lacking another crimp of the correct size I soldered it and slid heat shrink over to seal it. Window still not working!!! Bypassed the safety latch switch with a jumper wire and window now goes up and down again. Sprayed some lubricant on regulator and the rails at bottom of window and now it works like new!

 

would you mind sharing your solding gas tank technique? ive been just marinetex my pinholes. i would like to do something like your doing sounds like it would last longer.

 

I just used a 240 watt solder gun and some 60/40 rosin core. So things don't get explosive. Ran argon welding gas into tank to displace the oxygen. A wire brush on a grinder or a sanding disk with the die grinder to remove all the rust. For bigger holes, a piece of copper foil to bridge the hole. I can get some pics.

 

boy this kinda craftsman ship is going by the wayside. i would like to absorb this info along with the brand and model tools used to pass this on to future generations.
