Thanks, Encho. I'll be reading your steering box rebuild write up in he near future.

A few other items that need attention:

Driver door won't lock (actuator?)

Windshield leaks due to a poor replacement install

Tailgate straps are snapped

Dash trim bezel is very loose. Looks like tabs have become brittle and cracked

The truck will be an ongoing father / son project. Looking forward to digging in!

That's a pretty small list compared to some of us. The bronco looks great, you did well getting it. I don't know how often you've ventured over here but we also have an on going picture thread that has a ton of cool pictures. Feel free to take a gander and post a few shots of this beauty.

Nice looking Bronco. Moved mine into the yard and went camping. I wonder if it misses me yet.

I certainly hope you didn't put the old pitman arm back onto the new pump. I'd bet that was part of your steering issues before... If the pitman arm was attached to the pump... Just sayin'.

You didn't get it: Even if you get a new Pitman arm you'll still have a problem since you're set in getting it attached TO THE PUMP.

Man, you really killed this joke... The pitman arm is attached to the Steering Box (not the pump), which has absolutely no mechanical link to the pump, just the hoses for the steering fluid.

Back on topic. What I learned in boating school is....

But seriously, I finally did something with TGM today. I dragged her out of her comfy gravel parking spot and drove her up the freeway a bit. The vw developed a nice squeak and I think it's coming from the genereator so rather than chance getting stuck with a seized genny, I parked it and got the bronco out. after about a minute of cranking and pumping the gas she finally fired up sounding as good as ever. I warmed her up then left to go to a possible job interview.

So after standing around for about an hour and a half with about 10 other applicants we discovered that my online application cannot be opened by the managers. They can't see it at all even sooo they sent me home. Needless to say, I was quite upset so I did what any man wih a big noisy truck does. I drove like a mad man and yelled a bunch. On the list is driving well over the speed limit, swerving into a gravel area to get past a car and a semi that stopped on a 2 lane street, fishtailing and spinning my 35s in said gravel area, almost going as over tea kettle onto a ditch from the aforementioned fishtailing, then speeding off leaving an awesomly big dust cloud. I like to think of myself as a pretty skilled driver. I could have very easily lost control and flipped of I hadnt been able to get the ol beast back under my control. That with lots of loud music helped me lower my stress level by a lot.

Although I'd have to say, I have always wanted to hit that gravel area to pass someone but never dared try it due to all the big potholes along the edge of the road... This time though, I didn't care I just hammered it and the bronco handled it beautifly.

I guess when I've only had an hour and a half of sleep and something like that happens, I shouldnt drive.. I didn't get caught this time though and no one was hurt, the truck made it home despite what I put it through... All is well now.

Ordered coil spring insulators and hardware kits for the radius arm brackets from Bronco Graveyard. Pulled the coil spring retaining nuts (thank-you WD40 Rust Release Penetrant!!) Insulators were almost non-existent!! Installed new rotors and brake pads.

All I did was drive TGM up to get my sister from the 8th grade formal dance. Impressed her friends with a little engine revving and crazy redneck driving :P
