2002 intake oil leak

Hi all,

So I have the typical oil in the valled pan - the front area. Cleaned it all up last night and drove it this morning to confirm it is the front Drove about 15 miles and there is a nice little puddle. The HPOP lines are dry. So maybe the rear plug or the "non-serviceable" plug? Is there anywhere else this could leak?

Thanks
Joe

Yes. Check all the plugs to the oil rail, and the ICP sensor. Any bad o-ring on any of them will leak oil into the valley. At WOT, it is large amounts of oil.

So I cleaned up the engine valley once again. The first little "valley" is what fills with oil. Fills up after about 15 miles of driving. The oil lines and are dry and the rear plug. It does not appear that the "non serviceable" plug is leaking - hard to tell. Could it be a gasket somewhere around there? maybe between the pump and the resevoir? I sure as heck do not want to pull the resevoir and pump to find out it was somwhere else!
I will try and get some pics up later today...

There is oil plugs on the heads. 2 on each i believe. Find your glow plug relay and look at the head. Wish i had a pic. A friends truck had the se issue for months it was the passenger side o-ring. Couldnt tell because of a bracket

That is what I am suspecting - so if the rest of my lines are ok - what are all the gasket kits that I need for this job? Obviously the non-serviceable plug kit, but also a resevoir gasket? do I have to do the oil lines?
Need to do this when the wife and kids are out of town and want to have all the parts available to pull this off in one day (24 hour cure time for the loctite right?)

Damn - wish it was the oil lines and not the plug.....

I would get a new gasket for Inbetween the front cover and hpop....other than that just pop the lines off with the line tool and yank the hpop....

So if I pull the lines, do I need to replace all the o-rings? Should I get the kit "just in case"? Part of me thinks about picking up the #7-011 Full Fuel and Oil Repair Combo Kit from dieselorings.com in addition to the HPOP mounting gasket and the non-serviceable plug kit....or is that just $60 that I could save....

Clean out the valley and pack the area where it is leaking with bunched up paper towels. Pack them tight enough so they don't fall out. Go for a short ride and come back and carefully remove the towels and you should be able to find your leak.

x2 on this. After I cleaned everything up, I also went in there with an inspection mirror and a strong light while it was running to find the back plug leaking. But it was running sidways to make it look as if it were coming from somewhere else. I think it might save you some potential time to precisely locate the source of the leak.
