Fasteners - Nuts and Bolts - Washers - etc.

Does anyone have info on how to get hold of a fastener “kit” for my 1949 F6? I only need the fasteners for the cab to front bumper. (Hood, doors, fenders, etc)
I came across a guide to ford fasteners Fastener Book and it refers to ford fasteners from 1955 to 1973. I wonder if the 1955 model would fit my 1949 F6.

Now I need to put the beast back together, but first I need the fasteners.

Hey John,

Personally I would look up what was used for fasteners (I know for example all the front bolts on the 53-55 F250s are 5/16" NF bolts) on your truck and just purchase them locally. As for a "kit" I don't believe anyone sales it for your truck. Do you have access to an illustration catalog? If not, drop me a line and I can look it up for you. You can do stainless fasteners, zinc coated, button heads, etc. Just a thought.

There was a thread on this a couple months ago, the upshot was that either Tractor Supply or a similar hardware store sells them by the pound. They aren't anything special, and most people seem to go back with 5/16-UNC instead of the Fine threads.

You could go with something like this:
1948 - 1950 Ford Truck Bedless Body Bolt Kit

But I would also vote for the farm supply store that sells bolts by the pound. You can save a ton by going the by the pound route. Besides, you can never have too many bolts.

I do have an illustration of the hood, fender sections, but they are not very good. It will be great if i can get hold of an exploded view of these sections, showing the detail of the actual parts with their fasteners.

You'll find exploded views in the Ford chassis parts catalog for your particular year. But to figure out exactly what kind of fasteners went where, you'll have to learn to read the text portion of the catalog for each part individually. For instance, under the front fender section, below the part number listings you'll find the specs for the different fasteners that attach that fender and where they go. Some of them are standard hardware, others, like front cab mount bolts or hood hinge to hood bolts are unique shoulder bolts that you won't find at Tractor Supply.

Check with Roy Nacewics. He supplies original style fasteners for Ford vehicles. Are you searching for original style?
