backup sensor override button; reassign its duty?
so the backup sensors in the '04 i recently bought don't work, and it sounds like its not uncommon. anyways i have a backup camera waiting for me to install it and hook into my DVD headunit, so i don't need the sensors anyways.
my question; has anyone ever used the button on the dash to operate something other than the sensors? or could it even be done (is it the right kind of switch)? i am thinking about trying to convert it to activate the high idle mod.

Why not fix the sensors? Even if you have a BU camera, those sensors are good. I love having them. I don't think they fail all that frequently, although we get a fair number of questions about them. Biggest problem is finding which sensor of the four has failed.
As far as your question, that switch is a momentary contact, so I don't see how you could use it for high idle. But you could pull the switch and make a new bezel with a maintained contact switch of your choice mounted there.
