Curious? Grill conversion qst...

Can a 2005 grill be swapped out for the newer 2011 super duty one?

Yes, from the "A" pillar forward. IOW, the entire front clip. Fenders, hood, header panel, bumper...

A member in WV did this, IIRC.

I thought the fenders needed some kind of trimming or additional bracketry to bolt up.

Well if I'm not mistaken... on the new(er) trucks, the grill goes up with the hood.... versus on ours the grill does not go up...just the hood lifts.

So to answer your question, I don't think you can do a swap for the grill... you would probably have to do the whole front end of the Excursion like mecdac stated above.

The 08-10 grills go up with the hood and 11+ stay down. I don't think it would fit to well at all without changing other items and not easy.
