95 f150 XLT 5.8l (H) SHOCK recommendations. .

Looking to replace my Shocks rear and front. I don't want cheap ones, but also no too expensive either. I just want to replace the KYBs that I have with something a little better. I want to keep stock ride height. No lift. I was thinking Gabriel Ultras? recommendations.

Why replace the KYB shocks? They are better than the Gabriel Ultras. I do like the Monroe gas magnum.

Make sure you inspect those spring buckets too. These trucks are notorious for them rusting then busing when new shocks are installed.

I recommend Bilsteins. I have them in my F350 and Porsche, and am very happy with them. I've used them in previous trucks and cars as well. They have very good on and off road suspension control, as well as at speed.

I put KYB monomax in my 03 Screw, and am not happy with them. They are good at low speed, but not at 55 and up. I don't think they are any better than the stock shocks I replaced. I took a 2k mile trip shortly after installing, and at HWY speeds, they tended to wallow on large road undulations, which was made much worse when towing. Granted, the 03 suspension is different than your 95, but I have my doubts they would be any better.

So, I say Bilsteins.

I used Rancho 5000's on my F250, I've been very happy with them. Many people have bad opinions about a low gas pressure hydraulic shock but i think that they work great w/ the stiff suspension that comes on the F250/350's, they control the suspension movement without adding to the spring rate the way a high pressure shock will do.

I've had Rancho RS5000 and did not like them at all. I'd much rather have a gas shock than a dampening shock.
