re-doing flatbed running boards, with questions

I'm starting to repair my running board and am lucky enough to have 2 pair to work with.

Does anyone know what is up with the rear corners of the 2 in better shape? did this come from factory for some reason?
If not factory, it was modified prior to undercoating being applied. Current plan is to make patch panels and corners from rusty pair.

Those are panel truck boards. They cut a notch out of the back part of flatbed running boards to fit under the panel truck body.

No it's not M-H, but i am going for that look. Narrowing the from axle really makes it look similiar (close up all can tell it's not for real). I just like 4x4's

From what I can see, unless I'm missing something, the notched pair is the rusty ones and the 'better' set is the ones that have the full corners intact? Just so we're clear, on your flatbed truck, you want to use the set with full corners. The pic you show with the notched board on your truck is incorrect.

yes, i do want full corners

both sets have rusty and missing areas, in person the ones with the "full" corners are very rusty to the point of being thin and not usable.

the "better" set has the corners cut out, rusted holes and a large area cut out in the middle but very solid otherwise. I don't know if i'd called this lugky, but the areas needing replaced or "ok" on the thin set.

i'll post a couple pics as i get the "patch panels" made

I should have a pair of full-corner (for your truck) running boards that are solid, but need body work on the sides. PM or email me if you're interested.
