Pop Goes My Tranny

So yesterday driving I heard a weird noise and hmm
Shifted to third and revved up no movement and in 4th the same I currently have a rare 5 speed only 1,2,5 work !

Yes she has clean fluid yes she is full. What the he'll happened lol

95 OBS reg cab LB /2wD 5.0 5 speed
What's the transmission in this so I can look at new and or rebuilt. Is it the Mazda mr25 or whatever the he'll that is ?

Any one else had a similar issue ? Man am I pissed I had just saved the money for long tube headers !

Dammit !

the mazda trans top shift folks like to crap the bed on ya,if that's the one you have.if you do have the mazda trans,it's not even worth fixing if you want to keep the truck (it's cheap, but it just happened to mine again shortly after replacement of the folks.) the best thing would be to swap in a real truck trans.the zf5 (or better yet imho, the E40D auto, but that's a costly swap) you would be spending your $ more wisely.
drivers door jam sticker has the trans code of course.

What's a reasonable price to get a used Zf5 ? I'm doing the work myself with my brother in my barn, never done one in before only taken transmissions out gulp lol will the clutch and flywheel all meet up properly or would they need to be changed also

If you have an F150 you have an M5OD. If it's an F250 it could be the M5OD or the ZF5. If you get a ZF5 you'll need one from behind a small block (300,302,351) from a 2WD F250/F350. Try to snag a whole donor truck so you'll have all the little odds and ends so you don't have to make 30 trips to the parts store and the junk yard.

You'll need a custom driveshaft too since the ZF was never really offered with the 8.8 rear end. The front half can be used from a F250/350 two-piece 2wd rear drive shaft, but the rear half will need to be lengthened about 3 inches.

in the F150's the only 5 speed was the M5OD. The 250's and 350's got the ZF5.

I need to save money to go to Edmonton in September. The truck in gas is killer and will cost all my saved money just tro fix it, buying a 4 cylinder will save gas money like crazy and is cheaper than the entire repair I found a 4 door cavalier that I'm looking at tomorrow when I hi Alberta I'm thinking of getting a 98 ram I used to have a 95 PSD and a 2000 cummins

how to post pics:
1. take picture of truck
2. upload to computer
3. upload to web host like photobucket or some such. I use my facebook page.
4. open image, right-click and select "copy image location"
5. come here and in the reply box paste the image URL (ctrl+V) and bracket it with after so it will look like:
6. hit "preveiw post" to make sure you didn't muck it up. then post reply.
