06 f350 diesel

Just bought this truck. I am a little nervous about the 6.0 L. I know ford has had a lot of problems with them, and was wondering if anyone could give me a better idea of what I should expect. It has had new injectors and oil pump it has 150,000 miles.

Welcome to FTE, great place and even better people here.

I am new to 6.0 as well, all in all to keep it in good order its maintenance. New injectors and oil pump are a good start to not having big issues. From all the research I have done on these three things to do first. One is the blue spring upgrade, check health of FCIM, and clan egr. These three things seem to be main culprits of many probs. All are in tech folder and easy to do. while your there read the new owners thread. Lots of good info there I pretty much read everything there and printed out the no start trouble shooting to keep with me in truck.

Welcome to FTE
You should look into a coolant filter. Change the coolant if I recall
each 36K miles with a good flush. Get a Scanguage II and add the Xgauge
codes for the things that you need to watch. Run with stock Ford oil and
fuel filters and make sure that you have a Ford oil filter cap. The aftermarket ones
will cause problems. Change oil at least every 5,000 miles and fuel 10K to 15 K.
I use Rotella T6 synthetic oil. Drive it like you stole it is the same thing
I was told when I first got mine this helps keep the turbo from
sticking and popping the heads with a high boost.
I also agree that you should put the blue spring upgrade in it. That keeps
the injectors from starving for fuel and kicking the bucket on you.
Low fuel pressure really does damage then. Also water and air are not good.
Each oil change It is a good idea to open the water valve on the pump/filter
that is on the frame rail to drain off any water that it has in it.
Check the batteries. Bad or low will cause problems with the FICM
(Fuel Injection Control Module)
Ask questions about things you don't understand and read other things.

I have a 2006 F350 Crew Cab Long Bed That is my first diesel. I purchased
it this last March and have put about 15K miles on it so far.

Thanks for the info. It has a bully dog on it but ive never heard of the blue spring upgrade ill have to look into that one. I plan of doing an egr bypass here soon. And again thanks for the info.

You may want to do some research into the bully dog.
There is some word that it likes transmissions for lunch.
I don't know this for sure but there has been some discussions
about this.

+1, get rid of the bullydog

You need gauges. ScangaugeII is the best value. Add to that a fuel pressure gauge and maybe later on add an EGT gauge.
