Dana 50 Hub nut size?
I am changing out the ball joints on my truck and need to remove the hub nut. I went to the local parts store and bought the rounded 6 sided hub tool for "most Ford Dana axles" I believe it was 2 3/8" in diameter. It wasn't big enough. Does anyone know what the socket size I need is? I assume it is also the same as the Dana 60's. This one is similar to the one I purchased (and returned):

The socket in the link picture looks exactly like the one I need. I have one of the 4 pronged syle like you described that is for my ranger, but this one looks like a round disk with 6 flats ground on it. I don't want to goto Ford cuz I am sure it is like a $100 from them, and I want my own, so borrowing is out of the question.

Wow, so you need one of those?

I've used that style on Toys before, but never seen it on Ford. I will tell you one of the cheap tricks in P4WOR last year was if you can get one of those nuts off (or buy one) then stick it in a piece of tailpipe and pound the pipe to conform to the outside of the nut. Hokey, but it could work.
So there's no tabs for a 4 prong or 6 prong socket to engage? Weird.
