Steve - Are you going to buy that Mercedes truck next? I have your same problem, hard to keep vehicles for a long time. Although looking at the prices for a new Super Duty setup the way I want it, my 2015 is looking more and more like a long term keeper.

DAK, I'm like you , The days of trading off trucks every 3 years is gone. My current 2015 carries a warranty that covers everything that touches oil for life ( or at least as long as I own it)

That won't help me with a bad radiator or bad water pump or bad front hubs/bearings. But it takes the fear out of a bad valve or blown tranny. So I'll probably keep this truck longer than previous trucks.

I also know that I have the inability to keep trucks for a long time, so investing money in "mods" that don't increase the vehicle value makes for a tough sell.

The house I'm renting doesn't have 220 in the garage. I'm getting stir crazy with my welder sitting in my garage with no ability to mess with it.
Thanks Steve! Post up a pic of your mudflaps. I want to see the front. I'm thinking of adding some to control the spray from the wider tires.

My rule is I keep something until it suffers a major failure.

That's why I still have my 92. Hasn't left me stranded yet.

Seeing how this is a one page thread I thought I would do my part in adding some length.

Local auction house has a 2015 Platnium Dually for 39k. They says it needs driveline work. It has 165,000 km on it.

Is this a huge mistake waiting for a sucker to come along or is it worth buying and expecting to put another 10k into?

Nate, there are some KILLER deals on leftover 16's now with the high demand for the redesigned 17's. I'd say you could get a new one for not a huge amount over 39+10 and have zero miles and a full warranty.

I'm with Rodney on this... Used, these beasts hold their value big time and IMHO what you are describing isn't worth it. Too much of a gamble. Sounds like nateairman is in Canada, so the prices are higher Rodney... But I am still with you on your thinking.
