I don't like it either...
I guess I will NOT be updating my win 8.1 computers just yet. I had that problem a while ago with chrome and ended up having to reinstall it to get it to work.
I use Chrome until I run across a website where Chrome doesn't work, then I try FireFox (Mozilla), and then IE. I actually have some sites that you can ONLY use IE... UGH... Even with the IE emulator I have, I still need genuine IE.

Hey Roy, my little one is 19 !
I have been having some issues with computer too.
Running 7. most of the time perfect, but last two days acts like it is refreshing constantly. kind of hard to type !
Any way my little one is a tech at a local computer store. she sat down here for 5 min. and wow what a difference. pages load fast and stable now

I get along well on my Win 8.1 machine. I use a laptop and thought I'd hold out with 7 forever, but my Toshiba had other plans. Ended up having to replace it with the Asus I have now. I'm running the new 64 bit version of Chrome and have had zero issues.
I need to reinstall Chrome on my computer at work there. It crashes daily for some reason, starting a couple months ago. I'm sure a clean install will fix it.
The blackberry system is doing well enough in Toyota and other cars that I'm sure it will continue on, regardless of RIM's fate as a business. I've had very few issues with the Microsoft solution in my car though.
