They both really love it up here though and I think the change will be good for them.

Going to lease my sons first car for him, unless it just doesn't make sense.

Mitch - I do the same thing. I go to EVERY car dealer out there and look at cars and prices. It was how I ended up with an Acura MDX one time. (Although I lemoned that one last day we had it I had to walk back and pick pieces of the transmission off the highway) Ford wanted stupid money for their Explorers and Excursions at the time. So did most others. And yeah, all of a sudden KIA and Hyundai decided to play in the big leagues and got big league prices to boot. IIRC Hyundai sells a sports car with 5.0 in it... Or is it KIA. (They are like Honda/Acura or Nissan/Infiniti or Toyota/Lexus anyways)
My boys both drive older vehicles, youngest was driving an 02 Jetta for work in the summer (back @ univ now) and the oldest is currently driving an 05 Dmax 2500. I tell them if you can't fix them then make sure you have good walking shoes with you.

So I just offended a car sales man. I stopped at the local dealer and was looking at F150's. He says can I help you? I said maybe....I'm looking for a truck that has what I have now,but new. (My truck is an 06 superduty lariat.)
Hee says, well how about this one? I said it looks like someone puked on it. So he says well, how bout this one. I said $50,000 for an F150? He said but it's leather and has projector headlights. I said sir, 50,000$ for a truck that isn't as capable as the one I got seems outlandish, and sorry about wasting your time. He said I don't know why everybody thinks Ford should give these Away, than stomped off.
Am I way behind, or are f150s really worth more than a superduty now a days?

You know why they put in sidewalk? Gives the Chey owners a safe place to walk home when they don't run.

Adam, if you think that price is bad, you don't want to see the sticker on a diesel Superduty! Lariat is going to sticker over $60k these days. Heck my sticker was almost $62k and that was 4 years ago. Trucks are more than double the cost of what most of our parents paid for their first house!

Well I think I am gonna own my 06 for a long time. I did look at a 2012 f350 diesel king ranch to. 40,000$. That almost seemed respectable.

It ain't just trucks, we shopped for awhile on my daughter's car, originally, we looked at getting her a Mini like her sister, the exact same car that we purchased my oldest daughter 4 years ago was $34k, we bought hers for a tad bit north of $26k. 8 grand in 4 years, come on......as stated earlier, even the "cheap" cars are freakin outrageous. Sad when you can get a Mercedes-Benz cheaper than a Kia....
As far as Ford trucks, unless you just get 4 wheels and a seat basically, they're all in the $50K range. Our new "reality" I guess.

My 2015 STICKERED at $69... My 2011 stickered IIRC, right at $60k.

At one point I thinking of going to a F150 and then realized it was *only* $10k away from being a superduty with the same equipment and a diesel motor.

The "good" news in all of this, is that is what keeps our current cars value high. The new ones are going up so quick, our old ones are not losing value like they used to.

I can remember buying a car and being upside down almost to the last few payments... You never had a lot of equity. Now, I put no money down on my 2011 and 3 years later it had $13k in equity as a trade in. I hope the 2015 does the same thing, because this time I put the entire equity payment DOWN... So in three years it should hopefully have $20k or more in equity, so that way I might be able to afford the $100k replacement truck. (hopefully it will only be $75k though)

They're about double what I paid for my first house! That was 37k in 1979 when I was 22. My truck configured as a 2015 is 74,000$CDN plus 13% tax.

My dad griped about paying $3,000 for a new F-150 4x4 supercab custom in '79. I still remember when 6 figures for a house meant you had something fancy. Now, it means you're not living in a cardboard box under the freeway.
