Yes, all guns in MA are required to be registered with the state so everything I have is known to them. No way to transfer or sell them as the act of transferring is what has been deem illegal. It was illegal for it to be transferred to me and is illegal for me to rid myself of any extra scary black rifle by transferring it to someone else whether in state or out of state. Yes, in her statement she said anything before 7/20 was OK but that is from the Boston Globe story. If you read the actual directive she issued, she states she will not prosecute "for now" and then ends with wording to the effect of, she reserves the right to change that in the future.

So, here's the synopses. I bought guns legally. After 18 years of the law being interpreted a certain way, she has now changed that interpretation and the purchases are now illegal and considered bought through a "loophole." The letter of the law now says I bought guns that were a felony to purchase. However, not only is it illegal for me to own them but it is also illegal for me to sell or give them away... not that I would. Hows that for damned if you do, damned if you don't?

Well, it definitely sounds like it is time to move. How do you get a gun out of your possession and out of your name - other than becoming a resident of another state? Anything you can buy legally, you should also be able to sell legally. (I understand that the legality of purchasing it to begin with is being questioned.) Maybe buy a small lot in another state, get the address for that lot listed as your residence and change your driver's license? Then "vacation" in your current home 355 days a year.
Perhaps she will lose the next election, and someone else will "interpret" the law differently, or perhaps the legislature will interpret it their own way.

There is currently no legal way without moving. The legislature is going nuts as they were sidestepped overnight. Even the Dems want to be involved. (Even if it's just to get their place on the statehouse steps when such nonsense is announced.) It may get overturned but it's just another brick in the wall here in MA. We've wanted to move to Maine for years but didn't want to leave family and friends but at some point you have to say, gotta go...

NRA, GOAL, The Blaze, and Brietbart have picked up on it. Fox News should come along soon. Everyone is watching the RNC so it's not getting much press yet. Do you think that was a coincidence?

Rodney, I'm still reading the thread, but there's a BUNCH of pages since it started yesterday morning. This is just stupid and needs to go away - along with her.

Gerry, I must've missed where she doesn't live in MA.

Our RINO gov is no better and has publicly stated twice today that he supports her decision. We're going to need a real outcry but in a state where we are so outnumbered, it's unlikely.

Doug, that is a HOT thread. 337 pages in 36 hours. Even the 1 pager would have trouble keeping up. At this point, if you're interested, I'd go to the end and read backwards as it's a very fluid situation.

Fox News just woke up. Stats don't support Massachusetts AG's expanded ban on 'assault weapons' | Fox News

I think the most amazing statistic is that in the last 5 years, 2 of the states 700+ homicides were committed with a rifle of ANY kind. 35 murders were committed with hands or feet...

We need to ban assault feet, assault hands and most specifically assault trucks - NOBODY NEEDS a SuperDuty!
What these people seem to forget is that back when the 2nd Amendment was written, a flintlock musket WAS the most modern firearm available - military or civilian.
