What was the mileage towing the empty trailer back?

Nice trailer - I know you and I talked about it earlier and you got one to keep for a long time and it shows!

Just ran the numbers! 13.6mpg back. I ran 70mph with the cruise control both ways. I went up two lane roads in NV and came back I-84/I-15 through Salt Lake. Some pretty nasty storms on the way back.

The DEF gauge moved faster too but I don't keep track of my DEF usage (although I may start).

I was really happy with how it towed empty. Its tough to say if I had no sway b/c the trailer was empty and balanced properly or if the hitch was taking care of any issues. I was also surprised with how well the truck handled the mountain passes. I never had to downshift in this truck. The tow haul is good to as it will let the truck slow 3-5mph up a hill instead of downshifting at the slightest drop in speed as I really hate that when hauling. The truck will downshift to maintain speed if not using tow haul.

Its tough to compare the Fords and the Dodge though as I was towing a different type of trailer with the Ford. All I can say is I'm very happy with the Cummins performance.

I liked that they use an 8 inch I beam frame on this trailer.

Most that I saw used either a 6 inch I beam or a 6 inch tube. I may have over done this purchase...but that's the story of my life. I also listened to Andre and avoided torsion axles for this trailer. I like the simplicity of the springs and this trailer will be used to haul atvs down dirt roads on occasion.

Thanks, I appreciate all of the advice I got here for y'all. It was a balance of only ordering what I needed, but also ordering the difficult stuff to add later (like a winch plate to the frame). I hope I got pretty close as I can add the other stuff a lot cheaper than it cost to pay the company to do the work.

The trailer was a week late getting complete so I won't get to spray in the bedliner material until after I get to DC. I plan to spray the floor with bedliner to help with keeping it clean.

I also need to install a trickle charger for the chassis battery and my ATV. The trailer is already wired for shore power...so at least that will be easy.

I plan to mount a tool box on the front of the tongue and wanted a flat surface to mount the box against. I'm not sure when I'll do that, but one of these days I will have a box there for all of the straps, chains, jack, and other materials you need to actually use a trailer.

Good Morning all you fine folks! As usual, I've been swamped at work, I don't get as much slack time these days! Hope everyone is doing great, thanks for all the well wishes for Ardan (daughter) Really proud of her.

So, I have now had the little F one fiddy going on 4 months now, and 4,200 miles.....last fill up I calculated my mileage, 212 gallons since new, 19.8 MPG (that's running her pretty hard too) Still not used to all the new tech in the truck, but I am impressed with the Aluminum Body, pretty resilient, I know the new SD's are supposed to be using pretty much the same cab, if so, that is going to be an impressive machine! (wife already talking about trading the "little" truck, as she calls it, on a new SD! I lucked out with her!). Anyway, had a break from the monotony and figured I'd check in.

Y'all be safe out there, idiots are coming out of the woodwork!

Especially those who bought a new rig but have way too small a tow vehicle
