2008 F250 fail safe

While i was driving to work this morning my truck compltetly shut off and went into fail safe mode. Could my programmer cause this??? My programmer causes my check engine light to come on but no codes are thrown. I have a DAS DAQ programmer. After about a hour and a half i was able to start the vehicle and drive it to the dealership. While driving to the dealership the truck drove fine. The dealship advised me to run tyhe truck without the programmer plugged in. Did that for about 50 mi with no issues besides just having stock performance. I am new to the diesel world and any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

My guess would be an EGT sensor detected it was getting hot. What kind of programmer?

I have no clue. I have a DAS DAQ screen. My gauges were reading good. I bought the truck with the programmer on it. The programmer always throws a check engine light. But when I check it. Nothing comes up. What u think might be the issue????

Spartan I'm guessing. I bumped up my program to 125 and it threw the P041D code.
