I kept everything attached to the backside of the piece I cut out, which includes the set screw that holds the lock cylinder in place.

Finished welding up the handle and lock portion of the door. I started on some holes that somebody punched in the door at some point. I opened the holes up with a hole saw and filled them in with some washers. Didn't get to completely finish that and forgot to get pictures of the washers in place.

Got the holes all welded up today. Also started on the bottom front corner of the door. Somebody at some point attempted to patch this section, but did a pretty bad job. I started out but making the corner with my shrinker stretcher set. Still need some tweeking until its perfect though.

Thanks! I am going to have to remake that piece though, because i made it a little bit too wide. Should be easier the second time though!

Hey Gick,
So how did you like this summer's internship vs the Mack job?

I think I liked Eaton as a company better than Mack. They seem to operate smoother and have a bit better culture than Mack. On the other hand, I liked what I was doing at Mack more than what I was doing at Eaton. I was quality at Eaton and Manufacturing Engineering at Mack. I learned a lot about quality, including that it is not what I want to do.

Eaton did extend me an offer at the end of the internship. I might be crazy, but I decided not to accept it. It was for more than enough money, but I would not know where the job would be, or what the position would be until next summer. I just couldn't accept the offer with that much uncertainty. I could have ended up somewhere that I don't like doing something that I do not like. I do already have some leads on other jobs, and the fact that I had an offer before my senior year even started made me confident that it wouldn't be the only offer that I got.

I will be second guessing myself until I have a job locked down though haha.

Hey Nick,
Take your time & interview with a lot of different companies
& look for a good match at a company where you feel comfortable.
Your jobs will change over time - try to get with a company that feels right
& treats it's employees well.

Good luck over there - You are doing great both on your truck & at life.

Smart move career-wise, Nick! Once you "go quality", it's hard to get out. Shouldn't be that way, but it just is.

Thanks a lot everyone! Well after just discussing this stuff with you guys yesterday, I just got off the phone with a little company that some of you may have heard of that is based in Dearborn. They are flying me out for an interview at the end of the month!

Finally got another good part of the day to work on the truck! Continued work on the corner of the door and I think it came out pretty nice. Definitely better than it was. I also finally got springs and shocks on the front of the truck. Me and my dad flipped the cab up so that on monday I can paint the firewall and put bedliner underneath the cab. Hopefully gonna pull the motor as well and get it to my motor guy to start rebuilding it!
