I guess im leaning toward the mustang 2. It seems to be only a little more expensive than doing the drop axle.

But anyway i got some sand blasting done today. Did the top and bottom fender on the drivers side. Im debating whether or not to try and fix the lowers or just get new ones. Theyre rotted pretty bad and the parts that arent are dented up and wavy. any way here are some pics.

Mine were even worse with literally a half inch of bondo and fiberglass applied on top of the seam right over the rusted out areas at the seam. I ended up getting fiberglass fenders, both parts, for both sides from Bebops. They are well made and won't rust but you do have to drill all the holes for the bolts.

Hey Gick,
Like Topper we had some bondo magician as a previous owner.
We sandblasted our truck & saw what we had to work with & just opted to skip it - too much thick bondo. We concentrated our effort on the cab, doors, & the bed. We didn't want to replace everything or we wouldn't really have a 1950 truck ...

Hey Gick,
We had a lot of issues to fix on our truck. It was kind of
a "pick your battles" thing - where to spend your time & energy.
They make good replacement fiberglass fenders & steel running boards -
the fenders were approx. $225 or so. You figure how much your time is worth - for me it made sense to buy the fenders & running boards for around $1400 or so & just skip the 4 or 5 months of grinding, welding, & sanding. We have perfectly smooth fenders - fiberglass doesn't bother me
where it might other people.

We concentrated on bringing the cab, doors, hood, & bed back to life. That was plenty of work! I really should have bought another cab as our's had a lot of structural rust & rot. By keeping the cab & bed - I think our truck is still a 1950.

Gick, nobody makes steel fenders for the F1's so if you want to get new fenders you will have to go with fiberglass.

Alright guys just a quick update. Ive been waiting on primer to continue blasting everything. I havent gotten it yet and its starting to get too cold to spray so im just gonna tear the truck apart and store all the body pieces for the winter and work on the front suspension. Ill get some pictures and more updates once o have the body off and start on the suspension. Im probably gonna sell all the stock suspension parts.

Ok guys finally got some work done on the truck. Got the whole front clip off and got the bed loose. Next weekend ill get the bed and cab off. Here are some pics.
