Power Running Board question

Can some folks here chime in with this info? I'm wanting to know if the 07 Expy's ever had or came with the power running board option. Also if it didn't is it a easy add-on?

Power running boards were available starting in 08.

And no it's not in easy (or cheap) add on. You would be better off getting a set of aftermarket ones installed. The factory ones can be controlled by the message center and I have no idea how you would get that working without a reflash of some kind by the dealer.

But didn't the 07 Navi's have them? and to my knowledge they are both the same vehicle with different interiors, rears, and front clips, right? How could an install be hard?

Yes I think the 07 Navs had it as an option but i thought the question was for Expys.
I'm not saying it can't be done but I would definately say it won't be an "easy" add on. Like I said in my previous post the running boards can be controlled by the message center in the dash and I don't think it is an easy plug and play as the rest of the wiring harness is unlikely to be there.
I will see if I can find the wiring diagram and stuff for you if you want. Also have you looked into what Ford wants for the running boards? I think it's around $1700 per side.

Oh Gawd! 17 bills per side? that is a good chunk of change but honestly it adds to the body aside of just being the plain average running board. I know some AMP units would definitely pass for the function over fashion aspect but it just will not add that same extra phatness of when you got the real deal. I had in my mind thought that it could be done similair to the AMP units but I guess I'm wrong here.

I forgot to add that the module for the running boards is about another $275 and you still have to address the wiring issue. Expys have different wiring harness depending on if it came with memory seats and DVD. By the way if you have a EL the boards list for over 2K a side.

Sounds as this venture would cost 5 grand with the figures you're speaking of. I don't have an 07 or later Expy but was considering an 07 in my future but given the fact of now knowing that the electric running boards started in 08's on up it has me re-thinking things a bit. Maybe this is something I could look to putting out the cash for at a later time after obtaining an 07 Expy or maybe I'm to just look at going straight for an 08 with the electric boards already on. Though this would be highly costly and most likely out of the budget on my part and I also like the light colored interior in 07's a lot better than the black. I also wouldn't mind putting out the 5 grand at a later time that to me would be a bit more cost effective IMO. Then again theres always an 07 Navi L which already has the electric running boards but the fact of them damn tail-lights being so huge is a big turn off to me. I also prefer the more modern look and feel of an 07 or later Expy over the Navi. Guess it's some thinking over for sure on either route. But given your figures it does gimme quite a bit of an idea as to what's all involved along with the costs.

Our 2 07 navis have them.....my 2 cents is DONT GET THEM! we had 2 motos go out and cost us $780 just for the motor($1300+ to the public). Definitely a mark up on them cause there is not much there. they look great but what a hassle.

The people I know that have power boards on their Navigator.. turned them off. The boards are up and down more than a toilet seat!
