Truck is paid for and basic coverage on it and my blazer is $30/ a month so I can afford the gas. I still drive my blazer more because it gets a few mpg better but even with the 460 my fuel cost would be ~$250 a month. Sounds painful but with no payments it's no problem

One of my awesomest towing trucks was an F350 crewcab 4x4 460 zf 5spd (470) hd clutch banks stainless headers y and 4" exhaust..... And 355 gears.
I got 14-15mpg with it. That's why I hate the 351 mpg. It's so terrible.
The only 351 I enjoyed was when I took a 92 xcab shortbed 4x4 5spd 300-6 and swapped a 351 into it. The manual definatly made it feel peppy, but still run out on the upper midrange and flat topend. (then I took the donor truck, 92 reg cab shortbed, and put a hotrod 460 into it)

A ZF5 Would help, anything would help. It's a bone stock '90 F250 460/c6/3.55. Mileage is pretty good for what it is but I don't need decent mileage from it. I plan and doing the air horn intake mod and "six-liter" tune-up, good set of headers and full exhaust (I don't have to do emmisions so I may delete the cat) And eventually a lower set of gears and a trans swap.

My 460 is capable of getting almost 14mpg. But 12 is about average.

The diesel get a HIGH of 16mpg. That is all highway w the cruise set on 65mph

The ford 351 is nothing like the 350 Chevy.
I'm a little extreme on my 351 opinion. But I'm used to non stock 460s and hotrod diesels.
I just think for what it is, the 351 could have much more. It's nearly using all 302 parts, and the ecu programming is terrible.
But with a little bit of work, and patience, the 351 is a great motor.
Just needs better heads, cam, exhaust, and intake.

That's why at the VERY least every one that I have owned has gotten a cam and full exhaust.
