5R110 question....

2005 F-350 with 6.0, 134k miles. Twice in the last 6 weeks I have gotten a "Check Transmission Temperature" message - the first time going around a RH curve in a sporty manner; today with a fast (not panic) stop in heavy traffic. Each time the temp gauge in the dash is pegged but goes back to normal as soon as I glance at it.

SG II shows a TFT of 175 degrees. Fluid level looks OK, checked with engine running in park.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks!

Either your transmission fluid temperature sensor is failing or the wiring harness in the transmission to the sensor is failing. Neither failure is uncommon.
