7.3L IDI w/turbo starts then quits
Hi everyone, I´m new to the forum and hopefully have the right forum for this. I have a 1994 F350 7.3L w/turbo and I am having trouble with morning starting. It starts at first, runs for about 15 seconds and then dies. You have to bleed the filter and crank for a long time to get fuel into the filter again and then after a long time it will finally start again. You can run it all day and not have any trouble but when you leave it over night and try to start in the morning it does the same thing all over again. I talked to the dealer and he told me to change the return line check valve that is located on top of the filter assy which I did. The check ball was gone and installed a new one. It seemed to run good for a couple of days and now is having the same trouble all over again. I did find that the water separator heater seal is leaking fuel now and this morning when the engine quit I bled the filter and heard air coming out of the bleeder valve before getting good fuel flow. Could a leaking heater seal cause the filter assy to pull in air when it sits overnight and cause the engine to starve for fuel after the injector pump runs out of fuel? By the way I already replaced the fuel pump.
