2001 V10 Excursion gas mileage

I'm looking at a 2wd 2001 Excursion with the 6.8 V10 in it.
What kind of gas mileage can I expect?
Hwy?
City?

So that I don't have to double post. Here is the reply to your question over in the V10 forum: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post12157467 You might also try a search in here as it has been discussed many times.

I can add a little more to this. I used to own a '97 Suburban 2500 (3/4 ton) with the 6.5L diesel. It was no where near the vehicle that my V10 Excursion is even though they were supposed to be equal. To me it seemed as though the Suburban as a people hauler made to tow whereas the Excursion is a towing vehicle made to haul people.

Like I said over in the other thread: if gas mileage is your concern and you truly want to support Ford then look at the Expedition. They can be had for less then the Excursion. They can pull a car trailer confidently. They can carry 8 passengers. They should get about 17 mpg highway. They ride better then the Excursion because they are not a 3/4 ton beast. Hope that helps.

Budget for avg. 10mpg so you won't be surprised/disappointed. For that price you get a bullet-proof, easy to work on, engine that will take you to the next decade. Plus, you get all the online support you need here (free!).

Plus you get all sorts of free advice on how to spend money on mods!

13-15 hwy is reasonable to expect. 10ish city. A lot depends on how it's driven, not hard to get 8 in the city either. 8-9 towing my travel trailer, and about 11-12 towing a car hauler.

I have a 02' Limited 4x4 with the V10. When I am driving it I get about 14 hwy, 12 city. My wife gets about 14 hwy and 10 city as she cannot keep her foot out of it. If you want an SUV with better mileage look at the Expedition, if you want a heavy duty tank the Excursion is it.

2000–2005 Ford Excursion, 2-valve SOHC, 310 hp (231 kW) and 425 lb·ft (576 N·m)

with a 2wd i'd have to say you should get atleast 10 city 14-15 highway, now i say this because i can get that with my 4x4.

I have a 2003 V-10 4X4 Limited.

I do 99% city driving. I have never gotten more than 8.2 mpg.

By hand calculation or the lie-o-meter, 8.2 is tops.

Had mine just over a year and I'm getting 8-9mpg. On road trips it seems to get maybe 12 mpg.

You can expect about the same. Hope it helps to hear this from several people so you know what you are getting in to.

Good luck!

I just picked mine up 3 weeks ago tomorrow
Had a Burb - needed something that can Pull!
Burb was 13-15 and 8 Towing and grunting my boat
Now the X:

When I picked it up AVG on display was 11.5 - but that was a bunch of hwy driving
reset that on the way home today I was reading 9.7 avg
in town and that you will get 10 if you are lucky
But I can pull my boat around like it's not really there!
HWY?

To be continued: 200 mile trip this weekend, Towing!
