1/8th mile time tonight at drag way

Tonight I my truck ran a 10.51 with a crappy reaction on my part. It did a lot better then some other vehicles. For instance there was a challenger (new one) only running 10.70's. This was a 2004 Ford F150 crewcab, FX4 with 154k in miles on it, of course it is 5 star tuned. I'd like to put electric fans on it, and see if I can get it down even more, and maybe work on my reaction, my reaction was 0.5800 on that run. That sucks...

Not too bad! My truck would run 10.50 before I put my big tires on it.

Here's how I improved my reaction time. Just barely turn on the bottom staging bulb. Power break the engine up to 1600 RPM (my trucks sweet spot) might not be the same for you.
Here's where it gets tricky! Leave on the second bulb! Seems strange at first but you will be green or just nearly red. then it's up to you to fine tune it.
I can average .020 reaction times leaving on the second bulb.

Later in the night I ran a 10.33. The temperate had dropped down to around 64 degrees. When I ran the 10.51 it was during the time trials freebies and the temperate was 89 at the time. So when it came time to actually compete I ran dialed in a 10.50. I beat the other car beside me even though he ran a 10.07 (it was some kind of older Lincoln with a 4.6 DOHC from the side almost looked like a taurus, except it was rear wheel drive.) however I broke out because I ran way under what I dialed in.

The way they did it tonight is the light holds back for the person running the better time, and the person running slower gets to go first to compensate for the time difference... so even though I won I broke out he got it.

Also for all the real ford fans my dad took his Z71 2012 Silverado to the track to. He ran a 10.75 for his best time, as the night got colder he did run a 10.63. His truck has 6500 miles on it, mine has 154k and is an 04. Hes got a 6 speed auto I got a 4 speed auto, and still beat him. Proof that Mike's 5 star tuning is better then crappy canned tunes. Very impressive.

Only thing I have to say about the 5 star tuning is in the 1/4 mile my truck falls on its face after 80+, takes a lot longer to get to 100, use to be able to do every bit of 120 pretty quickly. So not sure if he did this on purpose or if thats just where the power band is dropping... Wish it would pull through all gears.
