Intermittent miss
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 19-Sep-02 AT 04:37 PM (EST)]I hope someone has some experience with this....
I have a 89 F150 302 EFI - 152K miles. At cold startup in the morning it runs fine. If it's allowed to thoroughly cool off between trips, it will run fine, however, if I make a trip, say to the store, once I get back in it will miss - sometimes on one cylinder, sometimes on two (I can tell by the amount of shaking and loss of power). On cooler days, after a mile or so, it will smooth out and begin firing on all cylinders. I have no idea why.
If I run it on the interstate for any length of time it will begin to miss.
Spark plugs and wires are fairly new, since I was told that my gas gauge needle bouncing all over the place was related to an ignition problem. I'm not buying that since it only happens on the front tank, and still happens after the replacement...
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.
