Check engine light for #1 Glow Plug?

Hey guys, I have the check engine light come on and its driving me nuts. My truck is a 2006 F-350 Lariat FX-4 DRW with a 6.0 diesel. The code reader indicates the problem is the #1 Glow Plug. I changed out the glow plug today, cleared the fault code but the check engine light still comes on with the same fault code. The wiring harness appears to be pluged in securely. Does anyone have any suggestions on what the problem might be? thanks in advance. Zeus

Did you test the old glow plug with an ohm meter to see if it was really bad? If it is bad, it will be an open circuit, with infinite resistance. It will help to know if it really was a bad GP, or not.

Check this thread out. M-Chan68 gives a very good explanation on testing glow plugs.

If they all test okay, then it is probably the glow plug control module. In fact, I think the GPCM failing is more common than the actual glow plugs. But I've had both fail on my '06, so it happens.
