'96 F150 Ext. - Left Rear Speaker Install

How, in God's name, do we remove the side panel to install a new left rear speaker in an F150, Extended cab? There is no rear door on the left side. We had no trouble installing the front speakers and the rear right speaker, but have no clue how to approach the left rear. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

There are no rear doors on the left or right side of 1996 model year extended cab Ford F-150's. You more than likely have a 1997 model year F-150 built in 1996.

Gee, thanks, Muddy. That's what happens when I listen to my husband and don't look at the documentation myself. Not really the point though...

Since I'm asking about the side that doesn't have a door anyway, it doesn't much matter if there's one on the other side or not, eh?

How 'bout some help with the real problem at hand??

Well, I've never put speakers in a 97-03 F-150, but looking at a picture I found and experience with other trucks, I think you're going to have to remove the rear seat, then unfasten the front and rear seat belts from the points that are in the way of removing the panel, remove the flip out window latch from the panel, unfasten any screws helping holding the panel on, then pop out all the plastic pins holding on the panel. I also cannot stress enough keeping track of the parts you remove lol. I hope that will help you some.

you would have better luck in the 97-04 forum then this one the 87-96 as the trucks changed completely between the two generations

Good point! I put it here because I was told it was a '96. Will move it over there. Thanks for pointing that out!
