Changing tranny fluid on my F 450

My 02 motorhome With the Ford V10, has 37,000 mi. I doubt the trans has been serviced I am the 3rd owner. I looked at the merkon fluid prices. Ford wants around 8.00 for Ford brand, Orielly 6.00 for valvoline, wallmart has their supertech for around 4.50. Anyone used the walmar brand? What do some of you recommend? I plan to do a complete refill by removing the cooling line. Thanks Stan

I recommend you try and talk Ford down to $6/qt. I can usually get it from Ford in the $5.50-$6 per qt range. I have to ask nicely though. Once they hear that you are buying 20 qts they usually give a better deal.

I would avoid walmart brand fluids. When I serviced my excursion I used Advance Auto brand fluid (which is valvoline). Ford or most auto parts stores will be able to lower the price some when buying large quantities.
