I was thinking the same thing lol. I'm not a fan of stacks on anything, but that is just ridiculous.

Some good progress today gents.

Heat shield painted and in.

Same for the air filter bracket.

And the big one. The intercooler tubes are done!!! Had my local exhaust shop roll some beads on the end of them. Here they are all nice and painted.

With a little bit of work I got them all installed.

Now the air filter in semi permanently. I'll have to loosen the tube up for the first start just in case I need to block off the turbo to shut her down.

That's it for today. I will be working on the shut down cable next.

Looks GOOD! I really like the way the inter-cooler tubes turned out.

You should feel very proud.
You have the cleanest dentside possably in the world.
And maybe the cleanest cummins 6bt swap ever done.
Would you ever let your truck be featured in a magazine if you were approached?

And we can all say we knew him when....

How close do you think you are until start up, Labor day, or are you still waiting for parts?

Thanks for the kind words. I guess I'd say I am proud but there's always room for improvement.

She had her flaws for sure, but then again the paint was and is never going to be perfect. She has woods scratches here and there, etc. Funtionally clean sounds about right though. Even after Betty is drivable again I still have work to do for sure.

I guess I can concede and say it'd be up there in the ranks of the cummins swap world, but I think chase trucks swap is going to beat me out one day.

In a magazine! I'd guess I would be open to that as long as I could stay somewhat annonimous.

I'd say within three weeks, to be on the safe side. I expect sooner though. I have a big pile of stuff to order this Friday. Once I get it all she should be a runner. Keeping my fingers crossed for no issues. Batteries, cables and diesel is really all I need to start her up.

That is one of the cleanest Cummins installs I've ever seen. Thank you for not being another guy to simply pull a dirty ol' diesel from a wrecked truck and swap it in. You took the time to do everything right and then some. Rep sent.

Thank you, and your welcome.

I just couldn't do it. Even if I hadn't rebuilt the engine I still would've replaced all the seals and scrubbed her down. Then at least painted it right. It kills me when I see all the time and effort into a cummins swap using a nasty leaky engine.

It makes me cry inside. The engine was out. If there was ever an opportunity to clean and re-seal your engine, it was when it was out! I don't like when people half-*** something. I just can't do it.

I agree. Resealing everything and cleaning/painting are the minimum steps one should do prior to dropping it in. Yes, it takes more time and money, but you end up with a much better looking result. Plus, there shouldn't be any puddles under it every time you park it.

I hate it when someone takes a used engine and drops it in without even cleaning it, or repairing any leaks it has. Like you say, there's no better time to do it, since it's out.
I can understand someone needing to do a fast engine change when it's their work truck, and it has to be back on the road ASAP. That's not the same as this type of build though.

very nice

I have enjoyed following your thread. It's amazing how much room is under the hood of these old truck. I like the heat shield for the Cold air intake. Its hard to beat those BHAF.
