1937 Ford pickup

Hi guys I have just joined your site.I looked on here a good bit yesterday before joining and you seem to have a lot of good info.I have a question about a 1937 Ford my husband and I just bought.I know the original engine is not in it as it is a 1954 Ford 223 inline 6 with what we think is a three speed tranny. My question is can you guys tell me what tranny it is?Here is a pick of the truck and the transmission

R10F-1A and WG-DIV with the number 11 is on tailshaft

The number you see above side cover in pic below is 5 then AF-7006-

Side cover plate has 9 bolts but in square form, not rounded as a T-85 like I was thinking it was

Sorry if I posted to many pics.Just trying to give you an idea on what we have. There are no other numbers on the trans that we can find.Any thoughts?Thank you guys!

Nice project and welcome to FTE. Pretty impressive you have only one post and can already pictures up! Nice clear photos too. I also have a '37 but it's a 1 1/2 ton so I don't know much about the 3 speed trannys. The 223 is a good engine unless you are building a hot rod or you want your truck back to original. For me the 223 would be just right in a '37 half ton. Still ford, but a bit more modern and economical to run. Good luck with your project.

Thank you.My husband and I want to turn it into a Ratrod.More my husband's idea than mine.We are either going to sell the motor or save it for a rainy day for our '48 Alias Chalmers or our T-340 dozer.Just wondering about the tranny and what it is.We will be putting either a flat head Ford V-8 back in or a Pontiac straight eight. My husband wants to keep the three speed if that's what it is and if it will bolt up to the engines we have selected.

Just letting you know I did a lot of research yesterday and I am pretty certain that the '37 body is on a 1954 F100 which also came with the engine and transmission that's in it now.The transmission is a Ford manual 3 speed with overdrive that was made during the years of 1948 thru 1954.We took the cab off yesterday to get ready to do body work.Yay!!! Lifted it off with a T340 dozer to.That was scary.

I would like to follow this build also. On the 54 frame there should be a number stamped that may tell what engine and trans it has.

We have looked all over the frame for numbers.Where would they be?Here are the pics we took yesterday with cab off of frame.Would have took pictures of the dozer holding it in the air,but I was maneuvering the cab around to keep it from hitting the steering wheel while we raised it up,plus the dozer hydraulics leak down and we had to hurry!

Looks like a stretched Go Kart now

According to my information, if the frame is off a '54 then there likely won't be any numbers on it although I have seen some contradictions to that where the numbers magically appeared on top of the frame on the left side just ahead of the cab mount. If the engine was original to the '54 it should have a number mimicking the VIN of the truck although I'm at a loss where it would be. Maybe someone else can help with that. The '54 trucks had a data plate on the firewall and the maker obviously didn't see the need to put it someone else too.

We looked again last night. No numbers anywhere, just on the engine block. On a good note we got the engine running after it had been sitting for 17 years. On a sad note it's only running on 5 cylinders.Number two valve is stuck

Stuck valve? That happens so often when an engine sits. Can be frustrating. Sometimes a blast of brake clean with a little penetrating oil can help loosen it up. Otherwise it's time to pull the head.
