Towing tire pressure

Hi. How much do any of you increase your tire pressure while towing? Thanks.

My E-rated tires run at 80 psi all the time.

I run 60r/50f empty and 70/60 towing.

I prefer the better ride and the load capacity at those pressures is still substantially over what is required.

That's about what I run, If I go more my tires wear in the center. I haven't had any problems towing like this at all.

My 285 Michelins max at 80 psi. I normally run them 55F/60R. But for towing I wind them all the way up to 80 psi and can feel the difference. Brother in-law is a tire consultant for Michelin and Bridgestone and gave me the pressures to run at.

I'm the same as Eric...

I run 60 front and 70 rear for towing a 9000# TT with 1100#'s of tongue weight.

I have found going too high on tire pressures has caused me handling/wander issues almost like driving on ice when the pressure was 80...but that's just my exprience.

I've towed 10's of thousands of miles with this Ex and she is a rock solid at 60f/70r psi for towing.

I typically do NOT change tire pressures for the winter either...as the temps drop in Indiana for winter...so will the tire pressures "naturally" so I get a softer ride during winter months too.

The Ford recommended door jamb pressures are what you could carry FULL GAWR's with...so anything over 45f/55r psi is for "tuning" purposes only as the E rated tires load ratings at 45/55 would support full rear axle weights listed on the door jamb for stock size tires...

I came upon 60/70 by trial and error experiments while towing and I seemed to like the feeling and stability.

Joe.

Depends entirely on what you're towing. What are you hooking up to, and what kind of tires are you running?
