Need help with power steering pump pully and vacuum pump !
Hey guys I have a 97 f350 that I'm replacing the power steering pump and vacuum pump ! I have a few questions . Can both the vacuum pump and power steering pump use the same Pully puller? I need to rent it from autozone? And secondly dose anyone have a picture of the pully puller I need? Cause autozone doesn't know what there are talking about and there are different types. I have also never done this or used and pully puller. Any help would be great

they both use a basic power steering pump puller.. it is sort of tight in there my puller was just short enough. this will be the puller you would get from autozone OEM/Power steering pulley puller installer kit (27031) | Power Steering Pulley Puller/Installer | AutoZone.com just hooks aroung the lip on the pulley and and presses it off the shaft. installer threads into the shaft of the pumps and presses the pulley on the shaft pretty straight forward once you see the tool

Vacuum Pump bolt note
One of the vacuum pump bolts needs to be in the casing BEFORE you put on the pulley. After the pulley is on, it partially covers the hole, and the bolt is too long to slip in behind the pulley.
If you haven't gotten the vacuum pump yet, I suggest getting a new unit, not a rebuild. Mine failed when the casing cracked completely through at the narrow neck between the cam/bearing housing and pump volume. It's a weak spot in the pump, and a rebuilt unit might have undetected metal fatigue there.
Other than the one vacuum pump bolt (just means you're likely to have to pull the pulley a second time), the job is very straight-forward. I used a 24" breaker bar on the belt tensioner to remove and install the belt; the leverage makes it easy to slack the belt with one and and get it on or off with the other, and the long breaker bar sticks above the radiator so you're not reaching down.
