Chrome wheel liner came off, how to re-glue it?

So on a road trip, I had my front passenger side chrome wheel liner come off. I'm not exactly sure what kind of glue or epoxy that was used by ford to adhere these to the steel rim underneith.

Has anyone else had this problem? What kind of glue or adhesive should I used to stick this thing back on to make sure it never comes off again?

I sanded/grinded off all the old stuff but I took some paint off too, should I shoot some rustoleum on it or will it be alright, I don't want it to rust or have the liner come off again. I figured whatever I use needs to be high temp, flexible, and somewhat fast drying. Thoughts?

I do not know what type of glue is used. But there are posts on here were guys try to figure out how to remove theirs without damaging the rim. They want to power coat the rim black and keep the lug nut covers chrome. That look is awsome..

Yeah, I'll have to check that out. I've never seen that look. I think for now I'm just going to stick with the factory look. Still trying to figure out the best way to stick it back on. Anybody else have any ideas?

I would try a heavy duty epoxy or something along the lines of liquid nails or jb weld

yeah I'm not sure if I like it or not, I guess right now its kinda hard to tell because I sanded in places to remove the old adhesive. I'm going to repaint it today before I stick the cover back on I'll try and get a picture of it repainted.

update: I blasted all the old paint off the wheel along with the old adhesive. Cleaned it all up real well, and repainted with some high temp paint. Cleaned the wheel liner up nice, and used the jb weld epoxy. Seems to be holding up real well so far. time will tell.

3M makes a weatherstrip adhesive that will bond dang near anything to anything permanently.

Update: The wheel liner just came off again about a week ago which sucks because I lost the new center cap I just bought, I was able to find the wheel liner.

So now, I'm debating on either:

1. Buying another wheel that hopefully will not have this issue.
2. Just prying the other 3 liners off and powder coating the rims black.
3. I found a deal on craigslist for 4 wheels off a 2003 rwd f250 that the rims and center caps have all been powder coated satin black for $100. Heres a pic..

What do you guys think? I am currently running 285/75/16 on my 16x7" wheels. How would the fitment of that sized tire equate on these here 16x6.5" wheels?

You can't use 16's on a 16'5 rim.. its harder to find a good 16.5 tire for those rims....

The rims are 16x6.5 not 16.5. Those rims look great!

Thanks all, so good deal for $100?

Still wondering, how my 285/75/16 sized tires would fit on these 16x6.5 steel wheels? Anybody runnin' this combo?

thanks for the comments.
