Yo, Phil here i got some questions about retrofitting a 400 CID for a hydraulic roller cam, what are the differances between A regular set up and a hydraulic roller cam set up "Besides no break in,"Pros and cons.

 

With the rollers, they are less likely to have excessive wear/damage on startup, but that's about it. Roller do have an advantage in they can typically turn higher rpm with less valvetrain mods, you can also run a higher duration as the roller is more relaxed/take a higher duration without affecting idle quality/vacume levels at the low end as much- basically more forgiving (with hydraulic liters)

 

whats a good balance for a prodominatly stock engine?

 

duration, 280 to 290 range, lift max around 500-520- that would be with a roller, if not, just stick to the lower range of those numbers and it would still be a very nice engine.
