I'm new to this site, so forgive me if I have not completly figured it out yet. I have a 1996 F-350 Powerstoke that has been a great truck. I drove into a burger joint for lunch and all was well. When I started up to leave, my truck runs on 4 cylinders at best and sounds like it is coming apart. No lights or warnings of any kind. I managed to get it 2miles down the road to my job and checked everything under the hood including changing the fuel filter, but nothing has changed. It will start, but runs terrible like out of time or 3-4 cylinders not firing. Any help will be appreciated.

 

Could be burnt connecters for injectors at the valve covers. inspect them or disconnect them one at a time and see if it changes the way it runs. You may need to replace the vc gaskets..pretty common( the wiring and connecter is built into them).
