We have salt domes all over us here too. the difference is that that area also got permission to store radiation waste too in the area. You know you would think that theres another way to dispose of that other than stick it in the ground. But I guess not.
I dont like it.
The SPR of the goverment is located not too far from me.
They have been mining salt domes with water for decades and then store hydrocarbons in them. The brine is heavier than the hydrocarbons so all they do is put water down in the bottom to displace the hydrocarbons on top. That is, when they want to get some out. Its been a standard exceptable practice for a long time.
You know that any homes wont be covered by insurance from losses due to that sink hole so the only recovery would be to sue.
