Friend of mine has a 12/97 build date F250HD. It came factory with the small engine cover which is rumored to be instaled on only the last 3 month or so of production.

My '97HD is a 6/97.

Yea that big black ugly thing on top of the engine thats always in the way...His was just a small round toped piece that only covered the HPOP.
