Magnaflow muffler installed today.

Some of you may remember my thread about my muffler sounding as if it had golf ***** inside it. Anyways, the rattling finally got so bad that I had to cut it out and see what the deal was. The rear baffle inside my flowmaster muffler had completely covered up my exhaust exit and it was killing my power and mpgs. I took it to the muffler shop and told my muffler guy to put another flowmaster under there for $124.00 bucks installed. He and I got to talking and he said that if it were his truck he would have a magnaflow on it because flowmaster just isn't making their mufflers like they used to. I said what the hell and told him to put on a Magnaflow muffler.

I have been a long time supporter of Flowmaster and have only ran it on my trucks. I still think that Flowmaster has a great sound, but after a day with the Magnaflow, I have been converted. It sounds great, and there is no drone in the cab whatsoever. Just thought I would share my experience with you guys.

Nice Clint! You're just a single pipe with the exit behind the rear tire, correct?

I like the magna flow mufflers on these trucks, they sound real good. I was a flowmaster guy for years until I had the same thing happen. its so annoying to drive down the road with a baffle rattling around

My brother was about to go flowmaster with his. I showed him the SIDO with the infront of the tire exit and he finally bought it. He is obsessed with the sound of it. I'm jealous.

Yes chandler I am SIDO with side exit in front of the rear tire. It amazed me at how there wasn't any more drone in my cab with the Magnaflow. And it sounds mean as hell when you really get on it.

Is anyone running just a manaflow muffler in place of the factory muffler or does everyone go with the complete systems. I thought about replacing just the factory "school bus" muffler with a magnaflow but I'd like to know how it would sound first.

Mine is just a cobble up system. It is the factory pipes from the headers to the the muffler and then two pipes that are only about 3 feet long a peice bent out the side. I'm sure it would sound good even if you just replaced the stock muffler with a magnaflow. Might wanna get rid of your rear cats though(if you havn't already)

i know a few people that put a magnaflow in place of the stock muffler. that was the only change they made. it sounds good and is fairly inexpensive. the kits usually have bigger pipes and are mandrel bent so you get better flow and more noise over the stock setup with a new muff

I did forget to add that the pipes that come out of my muffler are larger than the ones entering it.

The PO of my truck put a FlowMaster 40 on my truck just before I bought it. It is SIDO coming straight out the back under the bumper.
It does have a fairly aggressive sound which I don't mind, but after having driven it for a while now, I've come to hate it. The drone in the cab is awful annoying.
The first opportunity I get that muffler is coming out of there for something a little quieter.

The Magnaflow is a little quieter than my flowmaster was, but it still sounds really good.
