which should I do???

Hi! I am battling with my rear wheel bearing seals. I have searched on FTE but couldn't find an answer. My simple question is the following:

should I put sealant on the seal or put the seal in dry for the rear wheel bearing seal.

The instructions that came with the seal says to put in dry, but in my ford service manual it says to put ford (what ever spec number) approved sealant on the outer portion of the seal (that goes ino the cast hub).

So, do I put in dry ........ or do I put sealant on the seal??? .....or do you guys put sealant on both the inner and outer surfaces of the seal???? What have you guys done???

Also, am I correct in understanding that I put the seal in the cast wheel hub then slide onto the axle tube?

Thanks for all the help.
Robert
