I don't know what this part is.
I have a 1996 F-150 4x4 with the 5.0 and Automatic Transmission. I have this part and it is supposed to be part of the California Emissions system, but the Ford Dealer couldn't find it. I am trying to figure out what it does and if I need it. I currently just have a hose in between where it was to keep it from whistling since this part is split up its seem.
What it says is: Ford
FITE-9S458-AA
Made in Canada
PA

I am fairly certain it has the original engine and it is a 1996, so I guess the part itself could have been replaced with a 91, but where would I look to replace it. I have searched the part number and found nothing. Also, Rock Auto doesn't have the part and they have had every other strange part I have been looking for. Is it alright to just replace it with a hose and not worry about it or not?

I.should have kept mine. I removed all the air pump tubing.and all a few months ago. That black assembly is just a muffler type tube that come from the pump to the metal tube that runs along the passenger side of your motor...always in the way of accessing your spark plugs. Just run a tube and save yourself the hassle of trying to locate it from the stealership

For anyone still wondering months later.
I spent a while punching through the wires and vacuum lines torquing at my O2 and that piece fell in my arm. I was thinking evap component at first, when I searched the number online. Its a part of secondary air injection. Still searching. Ended up with stripping the but on o2.
