The blocks are the same the only difference is the guts of the engines you can change a 360 to a 390 with just a few internal parts

I have a 1970 F100. The engine was a 70 360, but with a 73 block. The block easily bored to .060, and I changed the crank, rods and pistons to 390. It runs perfect with lots of power and doesn't get hot.

I think .060 over is the highest most people will take the FE block because it is prone to core shift. You can always overbore and sleeve it if its only the two cyls that are messed up. Right now you do have a unique opportunity to go big tho, the 360 block can be taken up to something like 445cubes if stroked, and there is a place out there that sells the kits for like $2100, cast steel crank, hbeams and forged pistons. Grab a new block and go crazy! Good luck!
