Turbo overheating problem?

I was just making a long 7 hr trip in 95 degree heat and we had been driving for about 5 hrs total with a 30 min break in the middle.. we started up a hill and I felt the truck slowing down and noticed that my boost was only going up to 1psi on my edge monitor..I was running in economy mode and I was not towing anything.. we went about another mile with it doing the same thing and then stopped to let the truck cool down.. after that everything seems fine except it seems like the turbo my be hesitating a little bit before it comes on like it should.. is this normal and did it just get too hot? Or is something wrong?

All my other temperatures on the truck were perfect.

This is my first diesel so I'm not sure about the MAP or EBP? Is there an easy way to check those? I ran the scan on my Edge programmer and no trouble codes came up?

Does your Edge Have Gauges???

FYI that Edge Going to Tear the Trans UP best thing is to take it OFF and sell IT or use it as a Code reader ONLY

Sorrey Man But I have to warn ya about the EDGE Tunner

Look into SCT tunner

Also a ScanGaugeII is Great for A Gauge you can check those sensors I mention for the Turbo

You also want to check ICP & IPR% for High Press Oil Health

Also want to check ECT and EOT for OIL COOLER Health

And Also Good to watch Volts and FICM

ScanGaugeII will Do All This^^^^^^and a TON MOre

ScanGauge - Trip Computer + Digitial Gauges + ScanTools

Turbo could be alot of things Intake leaks A BAD sensor

Check the CAC Boots for Leaks and Also check the Uppipes at the Back of Moter yes they in a Fun spot at the firewall

look for black soot around upipes joints when cold startup and feel around joints by hand for leaks do it fast going to get hot LOL

some even hang a string on stick and put back there look for string to blow around

at WOT you should see 24-28 psi BOOST

Yes the edge has gauges and I have set alerts based in what is in the technical section and none of the alerts were set off.. I will do some looking around and see what I cam figure out.. I also cleaned the AFE intake filter before the trip but that shouldn't have caused anything I wouldn't think.. I cleaned it and treated it with k&n filter oil

If air filter oil got to the map sensor that can cause problems. Another reason to stay stk. at the a/f.

You might also consider the possibility that the turbo is sticking from thermal expansion and a good cleaning might be in order. Never heard of this before but anything is possible with a 6.0. You should also check the EBP tube and MAP sensor tube/nipple for blockage or obstruction.

Yea npccpartsman the turbo almost seems to be sticking, since I bought the truck when you get on it at WOT and it gets to 26psi boost and then let of quickly it will make a couple little short noises as the turbo slows down.. I had heard this is normal also?.. does that mean it may need cleaned?

Sounds like the notorious turbo fart--NOT normal and means it needs cleaned, which can't hurt it anyway.

Ok that's good to know.. is there anything on here that would help the average guy do the job myself or is it something I should have the mechanic do?
